What OSINT means
Open-source intelligence is the collection and analysis of publicly available information from legal sources - social media, public records, domain registrations, forums, and other data that does not require hacking or unauthorised access.
What it can establish
Identity correlation, account linkage, geographic indicators, organisational connections, and online behaviour patterns - building a picture of who may be behind wallet activity or a scam operation.
What it cannot do
OSINT operates within legal boundaries. It does not involve hacking, unauthorised access, surveillance, or obtaining private data without lawful authority. We document sources and limitations clearly.
How it works alongside blockchain forensics
On-chain tracing identifies wallet activity and fund flows. OSINT identifies the person or organisation behind the wallet - together they produce a complete investigation picture.
Admissibility
OSINT findings are documented to a standard suitable for use in NZ legal proceedings and police complaints - with clear source attribution, methodology, and limitations recorded throughout.
